Mijas surpasses the 61,000 inhabitants registered in the municipality. These people are actually registered in the Padron of the town hall, although it is a known fact that there are thousands more citizens who do not bother registering in the municipality. The nucleus with the most amount of residents is Las Lagunas with 25.000 citizens. According to the census 37.868 (61%) are Spaniards, followed by the British with 10.344 citizens, Germans 1.472, Morrocans 1.267, Danes 1.158 and Argentinians 804. All in all the municipality counts with over 115 different nationalities that are registered on their census.
