The worst affected road was the A - 49

According to press reports there were traffic jams on the roads of Malaga as people headed home from the beaches.

The A-49 highway had twenty miles of jams in the direction of Seville and 11km in the other direction

The A-45 saw 13km of jams heading towards Cordoba and the A'7 in the direction of Baarcelona had jams of 7km

The N-340 coast road was the least affected of the major routes with just 3km of jams

People had flocked to the coasts to take advantage of the very hot weather
